Endangered Species

As Black History Month comes to a close, appreciation and respect for African Americans must persist. Along with this, women’s rights must continue to grow. With the birth of the Black Lives Matter Movement, Prospera (International Network of Women’s Funds), African Women’s Development Fund, She Decides, United We Dream, and countless other civil rights organizations, it has become increasingly obvious that equality in America is not a reality– but it needs to be. This photoshoot, in collaboration with several African American female students who attend NYU with me, is meant to pay homage to civil and women’s rights activists and leaders in the past, present, and future. I don’t have words to convey the weight and urgency of this subject, so I hope these photos can at least begin to.
